| Personality Walk Graz Celebrities In a Network
Graz - a city of famous personalities! A place of origin and a springboard to the wide world, a city of expatriates, immigrants, and often forgotten figures who researched, thought, wrote, painted or made music here. The "Personality Walk" project maintained a database of their activities and traced the network of their relationships. This database will be continually updated and extended. Graz is a city of famous personalities who were all to often forgotten. Some came to Graz late, others left early - but they all brought something to Graz or took something of the city with them.
The "Personality Walk" is an online project in collaboration with the Technical University of Graz, the Karl-Franzens University and other educational institutions. Its aim was to construct a network of personalities who were born in Graz or developed a strong relationship to the city during their lives. The list of people ranges from a female landowner from ancient Roman times to the first woman doctor, from a poet who became a Pope to a king who wrote poetry, from a master of Viennese music to a woman from Graz who inspired Johann Strauss the younger to write operettas. It includes comedians who helped shape the character of the "Hanswurst" clown figure, a woman whose recipes influenced the eating habits of whole generations, and the archduke whose assassination started off World War I.
